JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Instructional Assistant
Reports To: Program Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Funding
Source: Title XIX Waiver Program
Nature of Work: Position responsible for assisting the
Instructor in providing classroom and community based programs and activities
for persons with developmental disabilities.
Provides the highest quality of service possible to enable the
individuals with Developmental Disabilities to reach their highest potential.
Responsibilities:
1. Assists in assessment of clients’ strengths and needs.
2. Implements group and Individual training programs and activities under the supervision and direction of the Instructor.
3. Provides assistance with personal care needs.
4. Assists in the daily operation of assigned classroom.
5. Implements community based training programs and activities.
6. Implements Behavior Management Programs as required.
7. Insures safety, rights and dignity of clients.
8. Documents activities and services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
9. Maintains current certification in all Waiver required trainings.
10. Maintains a level of attendance consistent with Westbrook Health Services.
11. Works with staff, clients and others in a professional ethical and respectful manner.
12. Abides by Westbrook’s Safety policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
1. High School Diploma/GED
2. Pass CIB check
3. Valid Drivers License

Sitting: 1 to 2 hours per 6 hour shift. Alternates frequently to walking and
